Do you have chronic
pain in your back, shoulders, neck and even your breasts? Is it uncomfortable
to sit or stand? Is your physical activity restricted due to the size of your breasts? Do your shoulders hurt where your bra straps have put pressure?
You might even experience some other symptoms such as frequent muscle tension headaches,
tingling and numbness sensations in your fingers. If you answered yes to these questions, you might benefit from breast reduction surgery.
Men who experience gynecomastia may also be interested in a breast reduction. Please see the information box below.
What is Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction surgery, or reduction mammaplasty, reduces the size of breasts that are disproportionate to your body and cause physical pain. By accomplishing this, the pain in your neck, back, and shoulders is reduced and often eliminated. In addition to the therapeutic benefit of breast reduction, there is the cosmetic benefit of a more pleasing and youthful appearance of the breast.
Breast Reduction Procedure
A consultation with one of the physicians at the Plastic Surgery Center is your essential first step to learn how breast reduction can help you. If you're ready to schedule your complimentary cosmetic consultation* and discuss your breast reduction in more detail, call us at 316.688.7500 or request your consultation online today.
Your surgeon will also give you certain pre operative care instructions. While we have included some on our website, they should not be a substitute for your physician's instructions.
What to Expect
Your surgery may be performed in our accredited ambulatory surgical suite or a hospital. The method of anesthesia will be based on the requirements of your specific procedure and considerations of your preference as well as your surgeon's. At the Plastic Surgery Center, your safety and comfort are very important.
Breast Reduction Recovery Time and Expectations
Your initial healing will include swelling and discomfort that can be controlled by medication. You may be ready to return to work and normal activity after about 10 days. Your healing will continue for several weeks. Your physician will provide you with more specific post op and scar care instructions. We have included some basic instructions on our website for pre op, post op and scar care, but they are not a substitute for your physician's specific guidelines.
After Breast Reduction
Your final results will appear over the next few months as your breast shape and position continue to settle. Your new breast size should give you freedom from the pain and physical limitations you experienced before your surgery.
Many men suffer from gynecomastia,
and male breast reduction is a common procedure.
Gynecomastia is a condition marked by enlarged male breasts due to excess glandular tissue and/or fat in the chest area.
Gynecomastia can affect males at any age and any size - not just men who are overweight. To correct this aesthetic problem,
your surgeons can perform male breast reduction, or the removal of unwanted breast fullness.
During this procedure, it is common for patients to reduce and reshape their areola, which may have become stretched or enlarged due to gynecomastia.
This procedure may be done in conjunction with liposuction to accurately shape the breast area.
If you're ready to schedule a consultation you can call us at 316.688.7500 or request your consultation online today.
*Some restrictions may apply on the complimentary consultation. Does not apply to insurance funded surgeries.
